Botanical Relief Art - 3D Plaster Panel Sculptures
Josephine is a botanical & life plaster caster. Inspired by the beautiful landscape and coastline of the south of England. Plaster relief is an artform in which life and nature can be captured in time and preserved. Fragility, strength and resilience can be encapsulated and represented so well in this medium.
Josephine fell in love with this artform because of the time, process, detail and sensory elements required in creating each unique piece.
A relief cast is made by pressing foliage and flowers into clay. Then carefully removing, to leave an impression. The clay imprint becomes the mould in which the plaster is poured into. Once set, the clay can be removed, revealing the 3D plaster relief.
Josephine has always lived on the south coast and currently lives in Southsea, Portsmouth with her family. She enjoys collaborating with other creatives, community and sharing botanical relief art with others. Josephine holds relief casting workshops on local flower farms and woodlands in Hampshire & Dorset. Promoting local businesses and seasonal growing. She has exhibited her botanical casts in group shows in and around Sussex, Hampshire & the New Forest.
